Royal Mail stamp of approval for St Ives

Date Added: Tue 21 September 2010

20 September 2010 – St Ives’ Service Graphics division earned plaudits from Royal Mail recently for its contribution to a successful exhibit at the Festival of Stamps. St Ives printed, finished and installed graphics for Royal Mail’s stand at the eight-day event located at the Business Design Centre, Islington.

The graphics for the Festival of Stamps certainly had the wow factor and made a big impact at the show. In fact we will be re-using the majority at Royal Mail offices across the country; we even had several enquiries from customers about purchasing them at the show,” states Dick Keeling, head of exhibitions at Royal Mail, “The Service Graphics team put in a lot of effort from start to finish. We encountered some obstacles along the way but they helped to overcome these challenges in order to complete the stand installation on time and to a high standard. Overall, Royal Mail had a very successful show in terms of the goals we had set, particularly stand sales, with the stand graphics generating a lot of interest from visitors.”

Service Graphics collaborated with Kew-based designers Association of Ideas and stand contractor Exib, Wembley, to complete the exhibition stand, consulting on the best printing processes and materials to maximise the appearance of the stand, whilst also taking practical and economical concerns into consideration.

The Royal Mail stand displayed 23 cut-to-shape stamp graphics, produced by Service Graphics. Sized up to 2900mm wide by 1800mm high, the stamp graphics were printed direct onto large format substrates to reduce mounting requirements, and then underwent digital die cut finishing to create a perforated ‘stamp’ edge. There were also numerous graphics produced using vinyl cut and lambda print.
Scott King, Service Graphics sales director adds, “We had six operatives on site for two days completing the install with scissor lifts. Royal Mail’s stand looked fantastic once completed and the attention it received from visitors demonstrated that high-quality, eye-catching exhibition graphics can contribute to the ROI of a show.”

“St Ives has an excellent range of services from all the production processes to overall project management. It’s convenient for us because we don’t need to source and manage numerous suppliers, and also we can be confident that we’re using the very best printing, finishing and installation methods for the application,” concludes Keeling.
